Shea moisture after being dragged by the internet
So if you don’t know there has been controversy surrounding Shea Moisture’s latest add. For years, Shea Moisture has been a go-to brand for black women with natural hair. In their latest advertisement, there is a video that features three women speaking on the topic of loving their natural hair, three women with non-kinky hair textures and two women who are white. Many black women feel the company is now turning its back on those who have always supported them and they caused a social media uproar. By uproar I mean black twitter went up in flames with outrage! Social media ate them alive! In fact She Moisture was dragged so badly that issued a statement starting with “Wow, okay – so guys, listen, we really f-ed this one up”. In Shea Moisture’s apology they stated that they would be pulling the ad. I’m all about inclusion and expansion so I’m not mad at them for trying to get a coin from a new market, that’s expansion and expansion is great, but remember inclusion, always include the ones that were there from the beginning before your product lined the shelves of Target. What are your thoughts on the matter?
